Testimonials

Tina/Whitney

I am extremely grateful for the Project Aware Mentoring Program. My daughter, Whitney White, has actively participated in the program during my four (4)-year incarceration. PAMP provided an outlet for her to remain productive during my absence. As a result, Whitney is a well-rounded high school graduate impacted by the positive activities that was furnished by PAMP.

The mentors at PAMP give their valuable time and expose their mentees to cultural experiences from shopping excursions, to outings to museums and broadway plays from dinning to ballroom dancing. However, most importantly the mentors were there for my child to provide a "listening ear", where she could express how she felt while dealing with my incarceration. Whitney demonstrated the spirit of community service through fund-raising activities and by participating in the "Miss Mahogany Scholarship Pageants" where she championed as Ms. Charm and Etiquette.

There were many memorable occasions that my child experienced by her participation in PAMP. The positive results were that she did not fall under peer pressure to drop out of school or teen-age pregnancy, or result to drugs. With the positive peer environment that PAMP provided my daughter excelled in high school academics as well as developed social skills that will stand the test of time. she is now a freshman college student at an Ivy League College in Pennsylvania and she continues to do well.

"Thank You" Project Aware Mentoring Program for all your support and invaluable assistance that was given to my daughter during my incarceration for which I am externally grateful. I would highly recommend that the children of incarcerated individuals utilize this service for the benefit of the children.

Sincerely, Tina

"Mentee For Life"

I must be the luckiest kid in the world because I have the world's "greatest" mentor. I've only known my mentor, Mr. Moody for almost a year, but it seems as if I've known him all my life. he's a nice, honest, and hard working family man who I admire so much. Mr. Moody may not know this but he is my Godfather for life! He has taught me wisdom and I'm know now a wise young man because of it. He knows what makes me sad, mad, and glad. My mentor always encourages me to be the best man that I can be. Sometimes I wonder why my mentor chose me out of the kids out there who are fatherless. And, then I'm reminded that God must have sent him in my life, as my mother would say. I must be special kid. Mr. Moody spends quality time with me, but before Mr. Moody came into my life there was no one who would dedicate his or here time with me other than my mom. For a while, I thought something was wrong with me. That's not the case anymore thanks to my mentor. I know that the mentor and mentee relationship is one year. My wish is that Mr. Moody stay in my life even after that year is over but if he doesn't, I'll never forget the values he has instilled in me. Who knows? Maybe I'll go on to carry his legacy, which is a legacy of wisdom, trust, and most of all, love. Last but not least, I would like to thank PAMP program for such a life changing opportunity. PAMP is now that family I've always wanted. PAMP'S really making a difference in the Black community. Thanks!
